I have always been a great admirer of the world of photography, widely speaking, not only about the part concerning erotism/porn and I must confess that if my work allowed me a little more free time, that would definitely be another hobby of mine. Becoming a photographer is a yearning I have and I hope to accomplish sometime!!
All along the years working in my website, I’ve had the huge honor of collaborating with great photographers. I can assure you we count with very talented artists in our country and that’s why I’d like to talk to you about some professionals who are real lovers of snapshots and their legacy in this and future posts.
Without any other delay, I’ll start talking about my friend Antonio, for whom I have already posed several times and, besides his model, I’m also a devoted admirer of his work.
Antonio Florez is a truly charming man and an outstanding photographer. He’s one of those people who have managed to combine a conventional job with photography, one of his greatest passions. He has recently retired and, knowing him as I do, I don’t think he will be one of those who settle down on the sofa t
o watch the telly and take unending naps. On the contrary, now and according to his intentions, he will spend his time shooting pictures here and there on a full-time basis, along with other hobbies he devotes time, effort and satisfaction to. That is, he’s not going to be bored…
In my opinion, he’s a photographer who prefers living photography rather than talking about it.
He has seen a big part of the world through his lens and he’s portrayed both men and women that have caught his attention while walking across a city or a lost town somewhere, and he felt like offering to pose for his artworks. That means he’s not a professional who always turns to models for his work, but who understands the beauty of people in their own environment and with a nature faithful to the person in the picture, rejecting any pompous or baroque stuff. The connection between model and photographer is tangible in his works.
On the other hand, he loves tattoo, body modification and fetish themed works so he usually seeks provocative and transgressive aesthetics, the internal fire behind the look and, above all, the brutal yet subtle beauty underlying the art of a shibari and bondage master, that covers a great part of his professional career.
We shouldn’t forget to mention he leads all the bondage and shibari sessions he later captures with his analogue camera himself, so that all his photos on this topic encompass a whole work of art with his personal signature. He rejects any later retouching and stands out because of his analogue works, though not avoiding the use of digital technology for other fields.
This is how he defines himself and sums up his work: “Photographer of fetish themed scenes and tattooed people, addicted to shibari. My aim is to take pictures of alternative models, although never ignoring other models who I may find especially interesting due to their attitude. I like natural spontaneous fetishism and I enjoy turning classic models into transgressive ones. I pay special attention to body embellishment, tattoos, body expression and the oriental art of shibari.”
